Yilgarn Drill & Blast has successfully undertaken a number of rock removal contracts where alternatives to conventional blasting were required. We are currently importing and using a product called CRACK.AG which we have found to be not only a safe but cost effective way to remove rock in sensitive areas.
CRACK.AG is a soundless and safe demolition agent which is quite different from ordinary demolition agents such as explosives and dangerous materials. It does not cause any fly rock, noise, ground vibration, gas, dust or environmental pollution.
As requirements for removing rock and reinforced concrete in construction increase in sensitive areas, the use of explosives and explosive agents is becoming more restricted as far as safety and environmental pollution problems are concerned. CRACK.AG is the solution.
Yilgarn Drill & Blast have developed a Non - Explosive method of
producing Armour Rock which results in a higher percentage of usable
armour, minimizing waste, reducing costs and increasing productivity.
Armour Rock is often required for construction of harbours and breakwaters where large, hard, competent blocks of rock are placed on top of one another to create an artificial barrier to the destructive forces of the wave action of the ocean. Armour Rock can also be used for decorative purposes where large blocks of natural rock are placed in front of a building or in a rock feature in a garden.
It is important when designing the rock-splitting method for armour Rock, to ensure that the rock blocks will split cleanly and that the blocks are not micro-cracked (as is often the case when high explosives are used due to the shock-wave propagating through the rock) which will cause the block of rock to break into smaller pieces than were intended, either during the rock breaking event or afterwards during the transport and handling process.) As in most cases where armour rock is required, the finished size of the rock blocks is critical, if the rock breaks-up further than the designed rock splitting action, the rock block is no longer suitable for the purpose for which it was intended and must then be discarded as waste.
